11 Nail Designs for 2024 That You Should Try Right Now
Looking for an easy approach to improve your mood or visualize your future? Your next manicure might do the trick—especially if 2024’s trending nail designs are so fantastic that you can’t help but be inspired.
As for what is expected to take over? According to Michelle Nguyen, a nail expert and the creator and CEO of PLA Nails, the sleek, basic trends we adored last year aren’t going anywhere.
“It appears that quiet luxury is here to stay for a while,” she tells Glamour. “Many people are now embracing a sleek, minimalistic look for their nails, and we’re seeing a lot of sheers and pigmented skin tone and nude shades trending for 2024.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, especially after a year of bright pink Barbie nail designs. Our nails—and eyes—need a rest.
That is not to say that the 2024 popular nail designs are uninteresting. Nguyen adds that, while minimalist nail looks are undoubtedly popular, loud, vibrant colors are not going away; they are simply evolving.
“They can still be seen in more abstract designs and patterns, like bold, bright swirl designs and more-vibrant French tips,” she tells me. “French manicures with a sheer base and bold, vivid tip are a look to watch out for, as it blends a classic design with a pop of color.”
By fall, we’ll see an increase in muted earth tones blended with optimistic bright finishes that “evoke a futuristic feel,” while “winter and the holiday season will bring us regal refinement through textures and dimensions for a deep, glamorous, festive season.
What other styles can be expected? “Colors and tones will feature top notes and undertones that play in concert and in contrast, depending on how they’re paired,” Arnold suggests. “Extravagant details like overscale embellishments with rich and luxurious colors will be a perfect design for a festive night out, and patterns and textures will bring inspiration, motivation, and calm.”
According to Arnold, medium to long lengths with softer stiletto, coffin, and almond shapes will continue to dominate the nail market.
However, Nguyen predicts that short and natural shapes, as well as stealth-wealth minimalism, will continue to gain favor. “It looks like natural colors and nail shapes will be prominent in 2024,” says one woman. “There appears to have been a movement from extremely long nails to shorter.
Blush Nails
Baby pink and hot pink will make your aura nails blush. To create the gradient effect, apply baby pink to the flat side of a soft sponge before adding hot pink to the middle. Buff carefully onto the nail, then apply a layer of clear topcoat.
