Right around the corner is the New Year, and people in the US who get SSI need the money to make ends meet. People who receive gifts are likely to have a lot of extra costs around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other big events like Black Friday.
On November 29, the Social Security Administration established the SSI payment for December 1. Because the first of the month will not be a work day there will be no check by mail on the first. It will be released two days ahead of the scheduled date.
Will there be an SSI payment after November 29 before 2025 comes?
Surprisingly, the Social Security Administration has reaffirmed that there will be the next payment made on December 31 of the year 2024. Thus, people who will receive the Supplemental Security Income payment will not receive the final payment of the year this November 29.
Just so you know, the January payment will not be sent out on January 1, 2025. The SSA never sends the money on a Federal Holiday, like the first of the year. Instead, they always send it in the previous month.
So, the money you get from the Federal Government on December 31, 2024, should be saved for January’s costs. But who can get $1,450 or $1,415?
SSI maximum payment amounts for couples
The highest amount anyone receiving SSI in 2024 is allowed to earn is $943. The 2025 COLA increased by 2.5% and therefore a person will receive up to $967 from the 31st of December 2024.
However, it obvious that qualified married couples will receive up to $1,450 from 2025 due to cost of adjustment. It was $1,415 before. For such a big amount you should not have to pay less in anyway.
For married couples on SSI, having no income and no means is the easiest way to get the most money. Of course you need to:
- have a qualifying disability, or
- be blind, or
- be at least 65 years old.
This person will only get up to $472 in 2024 and up to $484 in 2025.
