53 Years After the Episode, Barbara Eden, 91, Channels Her “I Dream of Jeannie” Role on the Red Carpet
When she walked the red carpet for the Remus Pre-Award Tea Time event, the legendary actress took a posture reminiscent of her role on the legendary sitcom.

On March 8 for the Remus Pre-Award Tea Hour, Barbara Eden strolled the red carpet outside the Beverly Hills Hotel beaming. The 91-year-old actress even attended the event with her arms crossed in the iconic Jeannie posture from her famous 1960s comedy I Dream of Jeannie. As she strolled the red carpet for the pre-award show event, she appeared to be having a great time.
Barbara dressed for the red carpet event in a velvet blue top, black slacks, and heels of the same color. During the party, she also carried a little black clutch. She appeared to be in excellent spirits during the program and seems delighted to channel her Jeannie persona more than 50 years after the program’s conclusion.
From 1965 until 1970, Barbara played the show’s lead role in five seasons of I Dream of Jeannie. She played a stunning genie who lived 2000 years ago and fell in love with an astronaut (played by Larry Hagman). Barbara received two Golden Globe nods for the part, and over the years, she has frequently impersonated Jeannie by posing with her arms crossed as she did in the movie.
Barbara did frequently return to Jeannie despite moving on to numerous other roles throughout the years (including Harper Valley P.T.A. and a few appearances on Sabrina The Teenage Witch).
She periodically made cameos in TV movies I Dream of Jeannie… Fifteen Years Later and I Still Dream of Jeannie as her recognizable persona. Even Jeannie Out Of The Bottle is in the title of her 2012 memoir. In her 2021 children’s book Barbara And The Djinn, which is about a young girl who finds a genie, she makes references to the famous sitcom even when she isn’t explicitly mentioning it.
