In 2011, she gave away beauty tips and showed readers how to cut her hair in an article for Allure magazine. Maybe that’s where they’ll find it.
“I have really curly hair so sometimes I just leave it be as it is, but when I wake up and my hair is really knotted, I curl it round the curling iron for a spiral effect,” she stated with golden locks in her hair.
Swift’s mother permitted her to wear red lipstick for a photoshoot, which became one of her trademarks, alongside the curls.
Scarlet has been Swift’s go-to lip colour, although she made a significant haircut shift in 2010 when she debuted fringe at the American Music Awards. Her fringe and hair were also straightened to achieve that look.
Swift’s hairstyle arsenal has since expanded to incorporate a variety of bang styling options. Swift’s hair has undergone various transformations, including curly, straight, side and platinum-bleached fringe.
Taylor Swift attended the People’s Choice Awards in January 2011, wearing her curly hair in a low bun. Her hair was styled with long side bangs and photo-ready curls, as seen in the top-left picture.
In August later that same year, the “Dear John” singer appeared at the Teen Choice Awards with her hair almost completely straight, pulled back into a high ponytail. As seen above right, that style also featured long, curly side bangs.
This occurred during the “Speak Now” movement. For the international tour of the album, Swift wore her hair wavy and down. For a few of her shows, Swift donned a curly ponytail with a side bang, running with the trend of awards shows she had presented on.
Swift’s hair changed dramatically during the next stage of her life and profession. Her fringe were chopped shorter, and her hair was more straighter.
Taylor Swift truly adopted blunt fringe about the time she released her ‘Red’ album. It was also a moment when any curls in her hair were far softer than what admirers had come to expect.

Years after her hair began to look much straighter, Swift addressed the change in a March 2019 Elle interview about what she has learnt in nearly 30 years of life. “From birth, I had the curliest hair and now it is STRAIGHT,” she explained.
“I wanted for straight hair every day in junior high. But, just as I was coming to terms with appreciating my curls, they went. “Please pray for their safe return.”
That sentiment could explain why, six years ago, in April 2013, Swift curled her hair for her performance at Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer Night. As seen above-left, the curls created volume, while the fringe complemented her facial shape.
A year later, Swift chopped her hair into a bob. In a now-deleted Instagram photo provided by Vanity Fair at the time, admirers may have seen the return of lengthier side fringe from bygone times. Once again, Swift sported side fringe in the above-right ‘1989’ vintage concert shot from 2015.
Taylor Swift’s fans came to known the period between “1989” and “Reputation” as “Bleachella,” since Swift bleached her bob and sweepy, short bangs platinum blond (above-left). Swift’s hair, on the other hand, remained naturally blond throughout the “Reputation” phase.
Her haircuts also felt like updated versions of previous styles: her hair was long and wavy (though the curls were looser than in her teen/young adult years), and the ‘do was combined with shaggier fringe. The shot above-right, taken during the “Reputation” tour, is an excellent example.
Swift’s fringe remained essentially the same during her ‘Lover’ era, albeit her hair was straighter, as evidenced by this Instagram selfie.
She also experimented with new hair colours. Swift’s “Lover” album’s colours and motifs inspired her pink and/or blue hairstyle, as seen in promotional photographs on Instagram.
Taylor Swift, like many of us, stayed inside during the COVID-19 quarantine. Unlike most of us, Swift spent that time writing two albums: “folklore” and “evermore.”
Swift further tweeted, “I’m so thrilled to share with you all that my 9th studio album and Folklore’s sister, will be out tonight at 12am eastern.” Those albums are like some sort of siblings and almost represent a common age.
During her ‘betty’ performance at the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards, Swift came to epitomize the era with the short and voluminous fringe. She appeared to be wearing rather raggedly, with some strands of hair fringing around her face and falling up in the back.
As soon as Swift released “Fearless” as “Fearless (Taylor’s Version), the curving fringe became the latest rage. Swift’s fringe appear windswept as she tosses her hair on the album’s front and back covers, which were shared with Genius.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour featured songs from her unreleased albums, including “Lover,” “folklore,” “evermore,” “Midnights,” and “The Tortured Poets Department” (which was added to the setlist in 2024).

She often rocked it straight for shows. Waterfall fringe, or curtain fringe, is a style that Swift sported during Eras Tour, as seen in the photo below that Bustle published accompanying the photo above-left from her August 15, 2024, show at London’s Wembley Stadium. Both kinds of fringe are longer than standard fringe.
The weather does sometimes rattle Swift’s hair, giving her fringe a wavy appearance from former eras. For instance, the photo right-above was photographed when Swift performed at Hamburg, Germany’s Volksparkstadion on 23 July 2024.
Of course, on social media Swift said that she personally knows that her fringe and hair curled because it rained.
“We got a rain show night one, unlocking Fuzzy Hair Me for the evening,” she posted from Hamburg on Instagram, where there are also several photos of the show. “Hamburg!!! I loved those crowds so much.”.
