Which Klay Thompson homecoming will Dub Nation feel more? His comeback 941 days after back-to-back season-ending injuries or Tuesday’s game when the former Warriors star comes home for the first time since joining the Dallas Mavericks?

Whatever happens, Golden State Warriors fans will be emotional when Thompson returns to the Bay Area, where he spent 13 years and won four NBA titles.

The Warriors are presenting complimentary “Captain Klay” helmets that Thompson wore at the 2022 championship parade as a tribute to the club legend, according to a post on social media from Chase Center. A pregame ceremony will honor Thompson.

Thompson will play with Curry and Green for the first time not as teammates. Dallas signed Thompson to a three-year, $50 million contract in July.

Thompson lost his Warriors title hat in the Bay, so he wore a captain hat for the celebration. He often sailed in SF Bay waters, including picking up Draymond Green to transport his Oakland teammate across the bridge during a protest.

In his return to the Bay, Warriors supporters should get to show their love and salute him after laughing, crying, cheering, and celebrating with him.

Thompson will return for the opener of the Emirates NBA Cup, an in-season tournament. The Warriors and Mavericks tip off at 7 p.m. at Chase Center. It will be televised on TNT.
