Ahead of a formal announcement, the next visage donning the cowl has maybe become clear.

Though the wheels are churning as we draw closer to the premiere of Superman: Legacy next year, James Gunn’s DC cinematic universe has not yet formally started.

Many have questioned who else will be becoming a superhero in James Gunn’s new world, particularly the Dark Knight, Batman since David Corenswet leads the new DCU as the man of steel.

Though the specifics are few and far between, actor Colman Domingo has hinted ahead of Batman’s 85th anniversary that he will announce line with the birthday of the world’s greatest detective.

Officially recognized on Batman Day on September 21, the 85th anniversary will be followed by plenty of major announcements later, same Bat time, same Bat channel. Stay tuned here.

Now, as for all we know, he may simply declare that he would be providing his voice to the role in a new animated picture or playing another character in Batman’s universe. Don’t jump to any conclusions yet.

James Gunn has also not mentioned who his Batman will be, and it seems doubtful he would let the secret be revealed so far ahead of the next on-screen appearance of the Caped Crusaders.

Having said that, it is the 85th anniversary, hence it would be a great time to reveal anything about upcoming movies.

One thing we know for sure is sadly it won’t be Robert Pattinson, who’s currently the Batman in his film universe outside of Gunn’s influence, a good thing too since the first movie was fantastic and it would be a sad loss to have successors deleted in favor of another new actor.

Batman is among the most recognizable figures in all kinds of entertainment; hence, it is logical that an actor capable of living up to that level would be chosen to portray this character. Consequently, a new voice of The Caped Crusader has been announced.

Among the numerous legendary performers who have worn the cowl are Adam West, Michael Keaton, and Christian Bale. Arguably the best of which is the late, great Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman in the 90s animated series, along with Rocksteady’s Arkham series and much more.
Naturally, anyone who comes in to try to replace that Kevin Conroy gap has enormous shoes to fill, albeit we hope never to be reached. Later this year, DC is giving us the new animated series, Batman: Caped Crusader to Amazon’s Prime Video, and not only has Bruce Wayne’s new voice revealed but also Harley Quinn, Catwomen, and Two-Face.

According to Vanity Fair, Hamish Linklater, who you might know as Father Paul, the priest from the Netflix program Midnight Mass, will voice Batman in this forthcoming animated series.

“I never in a million bajillion years dreamed I would get the part. Not only had I never been cast to do voiceover work before this, but Batman is also involved here! You never travel from zero to Mount Olympus, Linklater told Vanity Fair. “Then I yelled so loudly when I answered the call. Just running and grabbing my children, I said, “Dad’s Batman!”

Regarding Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman, the privilege has gone to Cristina Ricci, a great choice by the way she has starred in films including Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the Netflix show Wednesday, and maybe most importantly, Wednesday Adams in Addams Family Values.

Regarding the other half of the Joker, Jamie Chung will voice Harley Quinn and Dr. Harleen Quinzel. Jamie Chung has past DC experience portraying Valarie Vale on the TV program Gotham.

Finally, as per Vanity Fair, Diedrich Bader (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Napoleon Dynamite) would portray Gotham City district attorney Harvey Dent aka Two-Face. Batman: Caped Crusader will premiere on Prime Video on August 1, this year.
