Quarterback Matthew Stafford was termed by the Rams coach Sean McVay as having a “little” lateral ankle sprain in the win against the New Orleans Saints, but he should not be a problem for the coming match against the Bills on Sunday.
“Not anything that is going to alter his weekly schedule as far as practice,” McVay said during a video conference, since Stafford did run on Monday as part of the team’s day-after lifting program. “Could bring it in a little bit of a rough shape.”
He’s tough. He slogs through it, and he should be fine going forward.” Stafford was rushed to the ground during the second quarter in Sunday’s 21-14 triumph against New Orleans. Stafford hobbled right after the play but did not come out of the game and then threw for two second-half touchdowns.
“I need to be faster,” he joked after that, “as well as get away from those guys.” Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson scored a touchdown and injured his hand, suffering a hand avulsion; he should be able to play with a pad against the Bills, said McVay.
The Rams also made other roster changes on Monday by signing a cornerback through waivers, Emmanuel Forbes Jr., from the Washington Commanders team. Forbes, originally from Jackson, Mississippi, was picked 16th overall in the 2023 entrance draft from Mississippi State University when playing college basketball.

Forbes is one of the rookies who had a stint with the team when the former coach was Ron Rivera, where he played six games and one intercepted pass. Last season, in six games, playing for the new coach, Dan Quinn, Forbes intercepted one pass. The Rams knew Forbes from pre-draft work and NFL game footage, McVay said.
He has demonstrated versatility, competitiveness, and catching ability, as Forbes stands six feet tall and weighs 180 pounds, McVay explained. Forbes was signed by the Rams while the team waived CB Charles Woods to create the space wanted for Forbes. Forbes becomes part of the special team cornerback contingent of Darious Williams, Cobie Durant, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Josh Wallace.
