Caitlin Clark and Connor McCaffery Join Tyrese Haliburton’s Girlfriend Courtside at Pacers Game
Caitlin Clark enjoyed another night of her offseason Monday sitting courtside at the Indiana Pacers game with boyfriend Connor McCaffery.
The Indiana Fever superstar is making the most of her longest break from basketball since playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes in college.
Since the Fever were dumped out of the WNBA’s playoffs in the first round, Clark has been
quite busy taking part in golf tournaments, attending charity events and watching plenty of sport.
Her latest night out came on Monday as she went to support the Pacers as they took on the New Orleans Pelicans.
She was
seated courtside with boyfriend McCaffery and Jade Jones, the girlfriend of Pacers star player Tyrese Haliburton.
Clark’s appearance at Gainbridge Fieldhouse cheered a group of girls wearing her Indiana Fever and Iowa jerseys.
It was not even the first basketball game Clark attended as a spectator recently.
She also was in attendance for Butler’s men’s basketball game Friday against Merrimack College, whose staff included McCaffery, an assistant coach for the Bulldogs.
However, fans all said she looked extremely bored in the stands at Indianapolis’ Hinkle Fieldhouse.
She was talking to other people and constantly checking her phone rather than watching the action.
In fairness, the game was a blowout, as the Bulldogs defeated the Warriors 78-39, with Merrimack scoring eight points in the game’s final 21 minutes.
Clark will definitely have more time to herself this winter after choosing not to play in Unrivaled, a new 3-on-3 women’s basketball league.
The rosters were announced last week, and while Napheesa Collier, Angel Reese, and Breanna Stewart are among the WNBA stars set to play, Clark is sitting it out.
Clark is joining a group bidding to own a National Women’s Soccer League franchise in Cincinnati.
The NWSL bid team said Clark’s influence on women’s sports will serve as a boost toward its goal for an expansion franchise.
“The NWSL Cincinnati bid team is thrilled that Caitlin Clark has joined our ownership group in pursuit of bringing a women’s professional soccer team to our city,” the NWSL Cincinnati bid team said.
“Her passion for the sport, commitment to elevating women’s sports in and around the Greater Cincinnati region, and influence as an athlete and role model for women and girls around the world make her a vital part of our compelling bid to become the 16th team in the NWSL.”
Caitlin Clark’s Rising Popularity Beyond College Basketball
She and Connor McCaffery, a former Iowa basketball player, made the game even more interesting by sitting courtside. Their appearance underscored the fact that the couple is deeply connected to basketball; McCaffery isn’t a stranger to the sport because of his stint with the Hawkeyes and his family ties to Iowa basketball.
Fans were busy paying attention to the action on the court, but the courtside stars added another level of intrigue, drawing people’s attention during breaks and on social media.
The view of Clark and McCaffery courtside speaks to the intersection that basketball is across all collegiate and professional spectrums.
A Memorable Night for Pacers Fans and Basketball Enthusiasts
It was a crossover that many people and analysts would talk about, seeing as it brought college basketball closer to professional basketball.
Clark is one of the fan favorites who is electrifying on the court and jaw-dropping in her shooting range.
Her appearance courtside with McCaffery and Haliburton’s partner only serves to heighten her popularity off the court as she enjoys time away from the demanding schedule of basketball.
The game itself did not disappoint for the Pacers with Tyrese Haliburton in excellent form.
Haliburton scored 34 points, handed out 13 assists, and connected on nine three-pointers for Indiana, which beat Sacramento 114-100.
Haliburton’s tiebreaking three with 3:06 to go and Bennedict Mathurin’s alley-oop dunk off Haliburton’s pass with a minute left finally secured the win.
