For as long as anybody can remember, football fans have been drawn to YouTube. It began with videos and highlights from Joga Bonito, and now there are thousands of podcasts and talk shows and podcasts on football. Many of these podcasts and talk programs are produced by former and current players. With that in mind, it should not have come as a surprise when Cristiano Ronaldo joined the bandwagon on Wednesday, when he opened his channel on YouTube.

Following his announcement on social media, the captain of Portugal stated, “The wait is gone. Finally, my channel on YouTube has been launched! Subscribe, and come along with me on this exciting new adventure!

The channel gained 1.69 million subscribers just a few hours after he uploaded his debut video. The Saudi Pro League match between Al Nassr and Al Raed is scheduled to take place on Thursday. Ronaldo is scheduled to play for Al Nassr. Additionally, Ronaldo surpassed the record for the most subscribers on YouTube in a single day by hitting 10 million. A previous record of seven days, which had been achieved by Hamster Kombat, was surpassed by this.
