Rafael Harvey-Pinard, Mike Matheson, and Alex Belzile all scored goals for Monreal, which dropped its final three games of a four-game trip. Jake Allen recorded 24 stops.

The Canadiens tied the score at 2:04 of the third period thanks to a goal from Montreal’s Mike Matheson, who had given the Golden Knights a 3-0 lead. At 7:44, Barbashev, who was acquired from St. Louis last Sunday, scored his second goal of the game and 12th of the season, giving Vegas a three-goal advantage once again.

35 seconds later, Montreal made it 4-3 when Harvey-Pinard received a pass from Jesse Ylonen behind the net and beat Quick for his eighth goal.
With two goals in the opening frame, the Golden Knights took the lead quickly. The first came when Theodore beat Allen with a shot from the top of the circle that evaded traffic. Theordore’s seventh one.
With 19 seconds remained in the first period, Barbashev’s goal from the right side of the crease gave Vegas a 2-0 advantage.
He remarked, “My linemates did a terrific job of helping me out and making it much simpler out there. Being in front of the net, trying to screen the goaltender, and hoping for a rebound, in my opinion, is incredibly entertaining.
At 7:20 in the second period, Smith increased the advantage to 3-0 when he received a pass from William Karlsson in transition on the right side and slipped the puck past Allen for his 21st goal.
