Margot Robbie has brought Harley Quinn to life for five years, but she won’t be alone soon. Lady Gaga will play alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming Joker sequel. James Gunn, writer/director of The Suicide Squad, commented on the casting.
James Gunn, who directed Guardians of the Galaxy and DC’s Peacemaker series, revealed his reaction to Gaga as Harley on Instagram. Examine:
James Gunn is intrigued by the casting and curious about the next Joker movie. The director has met the Oscar-nominated singer and actress and found her “very charming,” so he’s cheering for her.
Joker: Folie á Deux will star Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck. Todd Phillips will direct this 2024 sequel.

Joker: Folie à Deux will reportedly be a musical set in Arkham Asylum, although we don’t know much about it yet. James Gunn recently worked with Margot Robbie on her third Harley Quinn appearance in The Suicide Squad.
Robbie debuted as Harley in 2016’s Suicide Squad, which still has Premiere The Ayer Cut discussion years after its release. Robbie then led Birds of Prey in 2020 and The Suicide Squad in 2021.
Robbie’s homecoming to Harley Quinn isn’t planned. DC fans can see Harley Quinn in HBO Max’s third season of animated series.
