The song, which landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last month, was then played repeatedly by Lamar, 37, while a number of celebrities, including NBA players DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook and fellow rappers YG, ScHoolboy Q, and Roddy Ricch, stormed the stage.

“You guys aren’t going to allow anyone to treat the West Coast badly, huh?” The audience responded by singing the song five times, word for word, as the Pulitzer Prize winner questioned.

“Oh, so no one is going to make fun of or copy our legends, huh?” He continued. Several celebrities, including Rick Ross, James Harden, and Drake’s close friend LeBron James, attended the Compton-born emcee’s event. Whitney Alford, Kendrick Lamar’s longtime fiancée, who has been the subject of some of the rapper’s barbs, was also visible in the crowd. Drake, whose actual name is Aubrey Graham, and Kendrick Lamar got into a feud in March after the “Loyalty” rapper appeared on Future and Metro Boomin’s song “Like That.” He rapped in the song, “Mother f–k the big three, n–a, it’s just big me,” making reference to J. Cole and the singer of “Hotline Bling.”

Thanks for signing up!

But Lamar didn’t stay silent for long because on April 30, he released the six-minute song “Euphoria,” in which he chastised Drake for being tough and using the N-word.

The rappers’ feud appeared to reach a boiling point when the latter published the song “Not Like Us,” following the release of multiple more disses by the former.

Say, Drake, I’ve heard you think they’re cute / “You better make sure you hide your little sister from him and you better not ever go to cell block one / To any bitch that talk to him and they in love,” he rapped on the song.

“Just for clarity, I feel disgusted, I’m too respected / If I was f–king young girls, I promise I’d have been arrested / I’m way too famous for this s–t you just suggested,” the Toronto native rapped in response to being accused of preferring underage girls in “The Heart Pt 6.”

After the act ended, Drake posted a mirror selfie to Instagram, suggesting that he was not at all perturbed by the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth performance.

He wrote, “Summer League,” as the caption for the photo in which he was seen sporting white platform boots, loose parachute pants, and a retro Cleveland Indians jersey.
