Tom Brady’s LFG Player of the Game for Week 8: Josh Allen, Bills quarterback

Tom Brady, the lead NFL analyst for FOX Sports, will select one outstanding talent to be his LFG Player of the Game for each game he calls during the 2024 NFL season, including Super Bowl LIX.

That was done in Week 8, by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen as he virtually took over from Brady the AFC East on Sunday.

The quarterback tore through Mike Macdonald’s Seahawks defense, which was sloppy and wet, despite conditions in Seattle as he completed 24 of 34 passes for 283 yards, two touchdowns, an interception. Watch Brady’s entire postgame interview with Allen:

Although it was Allen’s first visit to the notoriously hostile environment at Seattle’s Lumen Field, Allen said he “felt great” thanks in large part to how the Bills’ equally passionate fan base traveled.

Tom Brady’s Take on Allen’s Skills and Strategy

“It felt good,” Allen told Brady. “What’s great right now is Bills Mafia. We’re in the building. It was a fun one for them. It was a very complementary team win, happy for our guys. Threw one [interception], that’s kind of how it goes sometimes, but I will say this: I made a tackle, allowed our defense to go out there, and they made a stop for us. So I’m happy for our guys.”

Brady was also impressed throughout about Allen not taking himself out of a play through unnecessary risk or broken play. Rather, he stayed more into the structure of the Bills offense, took what the defense gave him, for instance, on a late third-down checkdown to Khalil Shakir which turned into a Bills punt. Still, to Brady, it showed the maturity of Allen.

“Another good game by Allen just managing the game,” Brady said after the throw. “That’s his only open receiver, and he gets up just a little bit short there on fourth down.

Doesn’t have to take the hit, which is lovely to see. He doesn’t have to be the hero that he’s been so long in this league and up 21 points. For them to get over the hump, for this organization to be successful, his health is the key.”.

When asked if that developed after Thursday’s game, Allen referenced another Brady: offensive coordinator Joe Brady of Buffalo, no relation to that Tom Brady.

A Closer Look at Allen’s Impact on the Game

I think Joe is giving me a lot of answers on offense, the quarterback said. I think system he’s putting in for game in us, I love that. They get widely open. As you know, ‘everybody eats’ is that phrase, and tonight, folks will remember, it is Khalil and Dawson Knox came inside for grabs. And everybody gets a piece of it.

All these things feel so organic in my mind that this ends up happening. We got it out there to those guys, show them that love for the football that we feel that sense by Joe has put into me. He thinks he understands me pretty well, but I trust the process altogether.”.

The sense I have of our readiness was also improved through just trusting our instincts. When it feels right, something like ‘Everybody eats, they always eat’ to keep me going, running for them to the maximum possible measure.

“He gets a lot of attention,” Allen said. “You know, when he’s backside and he’s got single coverage, it seems like he’s always got a safety helping over the top on him, which opens up other opportunities for our guys on the other side. So he’s a true professional. I’m very fortunate to be able to play with someone like him. And as the weeks go by, we’re going to continue to get on the same page, and he’s going to get more involved as we go. And I’m very excited for that.”

Allen also eagerly waits to see Brady in a new career out of the rival Patriots’ uniform and pads.

“You look good, man,” Allen said to Brady wearing a suit.
