Tracy Spiridakos has a touching message for her on-screen husband Jesse Lee Soffer.

Even though the Season 9 finale of Chicago P.D. is still a few weeks away, the concert has a shocker for observers already: Jesse Lee Soffer, who has played Detective Jay Halstead since the early Chicago Fire days when P.D.

hadn’t even premiered, is vacating in Season 10. Given that Halstead organized more safe organizations than ever last season through his marriage to Upton and new status with Voight, the disclosure is very stunning.

Since Halstead organized more safe organizations than ever last season through Upton and Halstead transitioned from being CPD members to friends to lovers to spouses, and their destiny as a set working jointly seemed increasingly logical.

Many Chicago P.D. supporters might identify with her sentiment as she concluded her letter with the hashtag #upsteadforever following the announcement of Soffer’s resignation.

Soffer stated it “has been a pleasure” that the news is “sad but real” when the actor used Twitter to disclose his impending departure, so perhaps that means there isn’t any animosity left behind.

My fingers are crossed that Halstead’s farewell won’t be as awkward as Jon Seda’s as Antonio Dawson, at the very least.

The stakes are particularly high going into Season 10 with the knowledge that Jesse Lee Soffer is departing and Halstead will be gone,

even if P.D. didn’t end on a flaming cliffhanger like Chicago Med or a grave threat like the one confronting Severide.
