Elon Musk $44bn Twitter Deal Prediction

Academics, attorneys, and short-sellers predict the probability Elon Musk will be pressured to finalize a $44 billion deal that he despises.

Musk startled the markets on July 8 by announcing his intention to cancel his deal to purchase

the social media giant at $54.20 per share, which valued it at $44 billion.

Twitter has alleged that Elon Musk has come up with a "new set of excuses" in order to break his $44 billion deal to acquire the social media business,

calling his most recent concerns "implausible and contrary to fact." Twitter fell from $39 to the low- to mid-$30s after the news.

Musk filed a countersuit last week to try to stop Twitter's attempt to force the merger through after the social media company sued to do so last month.

He also said that the number of users who see ads on Twitter is "approximately 65 million lower" than Twitter had previously indicated.

According to the billionaire's own investigation, at least 10% of all users' accounts are bots or spam.
