Giants sign Taylor Jones, and Jose Rojas is designated

Taylor Jones, an early baseman and closet outfielder,

was obtained off waivers by the Giants from the

Astros and options to Triple-A Sacramento.

Jose Rojas, a utility player, has been appointed for

a task to make room on the 40-man roster.

Earlier this week, Houston had assigned Jones for the task.

Since this is his final minor league option year.

San Francisco is free to keep him in Triple-A for the season's

final few weeks. In 2023, he will be without alternatives.

The Giants have traded around Rojas on the waiver wire.
