Scott Frost takes responsibility for the onside kick

After a shocking upset loss to Northwestern, Nebraska football coach Scott Frost takes responsibility for a missed onside kick.

Nebraska became the first major-conference club to drop seven straight games by a score of one or less during the AP Poll era.

Midway through the third quarter of a game, Frost made the decision to attempt an onside kick with Nebraska ahead 28-17.

Northwestern quickly recovered the onside kick at the Nebraska 44-yard line, scoring five plays later.

Frost stated, "I made the decision, so it's on me. " "I figured if we [recovered] it, we could win the game."

Coach Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern claimed that his team's momentum was changed by the onside kick recovery.

Under Frost, the Huskers are 15-30 at his alma mater and 5-21 in one-score games.
