Sports memorabilia record is set when Michael Jordan's "Last Dance" NBA Finals jersey is sold.

 The most expensive piece of sports memorabilia in history is Michael Jordan's "Last Dance" jersey

From Game 1 of the 1998 Finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers.

 The "Hand of God" shirt worn by Diego Maradona at the 1986 World Cup set a previous record 

 when it was sold by the auction house Sotheby's for $10.091 million. The price of that jersey was $9.28 million. 

  It was peddled in October 2021 for $2.7 million.According to Sotheby's, it lived the next Jordan trials jersey to be requested for auction.

 During his final campaign, Jordan performed his "Last Dance," which was documented by ESPN in a 10-part documentary.

 During this historic run, "His Airness" won his sixth and last NBA championship as well as his sixth Finals MVP award.
