The cost of charging your EV overnight is about to go up.

Owning an electric vehicle has always come with the benefit of overnight charging, but what happens when doing so becomes too expensive?

One benefit of owning an electric vehicle is the ability to charge it overnight while it is parked in your driveway.

Since there is typically little demand for electricity, prices are generally low, making it both handy and affordable for many individuals.

However, as more people purchase EVs and the need for overnight charging increases, that is going to change, according to a new study released today.

The wave in EV right in the western US, according to a Stanford University study that was posted in Nature Energy, could result in peak net electricity demand gains of up to 25% by 2035,

the year that California has declared it would deny the sale of gas-powered vehicles and trucks.

Peak net electricity demand in the western US might rise by up to 25% by 2035 as a result of rising EV ownership.
