The top circuit of ski jumping is returning to the United States for the first time in nearly two decades

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation men's ski jumping World Cup will be held in Lake Placid, New York, in February

"This is a game changer for our organization," said Adam Provost, CEO of USA Nordic

Organizers were looking for a venue for the World Cup after originally planning to hold it in Iron Mountain, Michigan

Lake Placid, which hosted the Winter Olympics in 1980 and 1932, became an appealing alternative after the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority recently invested millions to upgrade its ski jumping complex to world-class standards

Bringing the World Cup back to the United States is critical to the development of the sport of ski jumping in this country and around the world," USA Nordic men's and women's ski jumping coach Anders Johnson said

Anders Haugen won an Olympic ski jumping medal in 1924, at the first Winter Olympic

As part of a four-year agreement, the American and Norwegian national ski jumping teams will share coaches, training facilities, sports science data, and efforts to attract sponsors

The World Cup of Ski Jumping is set to return to Lake Placid in February for the first time since 2004
