Carrie Underwood paid tribute to Vince Gill, praising his music's influence on her over the years.

Carrie's cover of Vince's "Go Rest High On That Mountain," was undoubtedly the best of the evening.

The song lyrics were first written as a way for Vince Gill to convey his sorrow over the passing of country music icon Keith Whitley. 

After his brother passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, Vince Gill later finished the song.
