WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark set to participate in LPGA golf event in November

November will see 2024 Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark compete in a Pro-Am golf tournament. It seems that Clark is not content with being one of the dominant powers in the WNBA.

From November 11–17, the Indiana Fever star will play at The Annika, the penultimate event on the LPGA Tour, which is hosted by golf legend Annika Sörenstam.

In addition to participating in the Pro-Am competition on November 13, Clark will be a panelist at the Women’s Leadership Summit, which is being held in Florida, the day before.

Caitlin Clark’s Stellar Year: From WNBA to LPGA:

The 22-year-old stated in a release, “I love golf, so the chance to play in the Pro-Am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sörenstam’s name on it is so exciting.” “I’m excited to participate in the Women’s Leadership Summit, see all of the LPGA players on the driving range, and, of course, tee it up in the pro-am with Annika.”

Clark has participated in a Pro-Am tournament at the John Deere Classic in July 2023 alongside US Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson and Ludvig Åberg, so this won’t be her first time trying her hand at the sport. That day, Clark and her group finished five under par.

The rookie in the WNBA just finished an incredible season. Clark broke the records for the most assists in a single season (337) and the most three-pointers made by a rookie (122), having been chosen by the Fever with the first overall pick in the 2024 draft.

The Fever qualified for the postseason for the first time in eight years thanks to Clark’s performances; nevertheless, they were defeated by the Connecticut Sun in the opening round.

Sörenstam praised Caitlin for her efforts to promote women’s sports both on and off the court, saying, “I have been following her career during college and now on the WNBA stage.”

The Indiana Fever selected Clark with the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. By the time Clark’s first season ended, she had broken numerous records, including the record for most WNBA assists.

In addition, she scored more than any rookie and helped the Fever qualify for the playoffs for the first time in eight years.

After the 2023–24 season, she left the University of Iowa as the all-time top scorer in college basketball history, regardless of gender. Her tenure there was truly remarkable.

Pressure and Calm: Clark’s basketball career demonstrates that she is at her best in high-pressure environments. This may apply well to the mental demands of golf, where success depends on emotional regulation and concentration.

Difficulties of Changing Sports: Although she is quite athletic, golf demands distinct physical and technical abilities from basketball. Clark may require some time to adjust to swing mechanics, reading greens, and the short game.

Although Clark’s hordes of supporters were sad that she was not selected for the U.S. Olympic squad, she demonstrated in the weeks that followed that she would have been useful. The Fever guard averaged 24.7 points and 9.3 assists in her first 10 games after the Olympic break and guided Indiana to an 8-2 record.
