“Yellowstone Fans Furious as New Trailer Hints at Kevin Costner’s Role in Final Season”

The last six episodes of the fifth season of Paramount’s Yellowstone, and thus for its five years run on air, will come action-packed, and glimpses of that were afforded to its fans through the recently released trailer.

Kevin Costner is not in it though, as he surprisingly and suddenly leaves his job as the ranch owner John Dutton.

New footage will throw light into a showdown over the ranch and might also let light shine into the uneasy alliance that the Duttons have with the Broken Rock Reservation.

The series is observed to be transferring a series of events from where there is seen to be a blood pact made by the character Kayce Dutton of Luke Grimes with Thomas Rainwater, played by Gil Birmingham, while on the other hand, the feud between Jamie played by Wes Bentley and Beth, played by Kelly Reilly, is increasing in temperatures along with Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser.

But it has been bashed due to the utilization of old clips about previous seasons, including unused footage of Costner. Fans reacted by saying that “things won’t be the same” without Kevin Kevin Costner.

On Reddit, one fan commented: “So they’re gonna pretend John is in this season (he’s in the trailer a few times). We all know it’s not gonna be the same without Kevin.”

Months have passed, and people are all on tenterhooks for the final season of Yellowstone to gain closure over the Dutton family saga. But a recent teaser that has been released somehow outrage fans across the board.

It seems that the teaser is saying something about the involvement of Kevin Costner in the finale but fans knew this in advance since it is rather public knowledge that Kevin Costner was already rumored to leave the show.

This left many viewers feeling misled and frustrated, ending up forming huge debates across social media.

Yellowstone star Kevin Costner, who had been playing the legendary role of John Dutton since the show began, was at the center of controversy in the final season for his appearance.

Reports about Costner’s exit from the show began surfacing at the beginning of this year, citing scheduling conflicts and creative differences between him and the producers over the direction of the show.

Costner, two-time Oscar winner, has been a key part of the show that made it popular, and Dutton, his character, is the patriarch with whom much of the drama plays around.

In the preview of the last season, bits and pieces of Costner’s character came to the surface; many fans are sticking to their guns that perhaps the most beloved actor could still play a large part in the wrapping-up episodes.

The highlight reel contains some seconds of key scenes with John Dutton, but that is not confirmed to be new or reused film from previous shows.

The use of Kevin Costner in the trailer has not been well received by the fans, who assume that the marketing intentionally hid from them.

For many viewers closely following behind the drama about the behind-the-scenes, this trailer just pushed them enough to be vocal on social media about their disappointments and frustrations.

Fans flocked to Twitter and Reddit with complaints that the producers were leveraging the image of Costner, even in the third season he barely appears all through.

For example, comments such as: “Are they seriously pretending Kevin Costner is in the final season?
We all know he’s out!” and “This is misleading! It’s all a marketing stunt!” have flooded social media.

The main source of frustration stems from the fact that, while Costner’s role in the final season is uncertain, the new trailer seems to suggest otherwise.

Many fans feel that they are being misled, with some even accusing the showrunners of manipulating the audience to generate buzz for the final episodes.

The tension between Kevin Costner and Yellowstone production had been debated for several months. Indeed, earlier this year, there were reports that Kevin Costner was exiting Yellowstone over conflicts in shooting schedule.

As confirmed by multiple sources, his commitment to his passion project, Horizon-a multi-part Western epic he is set to direct as well as star in-conflicted with the shooting schedule of Yellowstone.

At the same time, media fueled discussions on possible conflicts between Costner and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, and this made everyone believe that the end of Costner was finally going to take a dramatic turn.

As soon as all these rumors were fueled through the media, the fans began preparing themselves for the final season without the powerful and macho John Dutton played by Costner.

While fans are left guessing at how much an extent he was really into the final season, it’s been rumored that John Dutton will be greatly limited. Industry insiders state that part of it may be using what’s available in the old footage and flashbacks to keep on giving the illusion that Costner is actually involved.

Such a move, if true, would obviously see the show fill the gap created by Costner’s exit without severely disrupting the storyline. However, it also leaves much unanswered in terms of the show’s plans for concluding the Dutton saga without its central figure.

Would John Dutton’s ultimate fate be delivered at the start of the season or would the show then resort to stock footage and recycle scenes with his character playing at best a minor role?

Beating the backlash that has been circulated since the trailer, one thing is certain: the Yellowstone universe is still far from being shut down. In fact, the mastermind behind the Yellowstone series, Taylor Sheridan, has already begun to expand the franchise, exploring the earlier generations of the Dutton family with prequels like 1883 and 1923.

A new sequel series that will continue to follow the events of Yellowstone after the final season is also in the works, and after confirmations, it may feature actors such as Matthew McConaughey.

For fans of the show, the final season of Yellowstone is bittersweet. On the one hand, there is excitement about seeing how the story concludes, but on the other, the absence of Kevin Costner is a major disappointment for many.

However, the latest trailer at best made things worse: its ambiguous depiction of John Dutton’s role left everyone more frustrated than ever before as fans began to wonder just how the show would really go about wrapping up satisfyingly without its leading man.

Conclusion: A Miss in Marketing?
The last season trailer of Yellowstone indeed set off the fan base with a storm. It has hinted at Kevin Costner’s presence in the series but in a very uncertain role. This led the viewers to experience more of betrayal and skepticism.

Some are wishing this final season will give John Dutton the ending befitting him; others are concerned that the season may not provide the justice the actor deserves, making the series one of the most cultural phenomena.

Only time will tell if the producers of the series can overcome such challenges and give the audience a good ending for the Yellowstone story. For now, it seems the controversy about Kevin Costner’s leaving is far from over and, in addition to this, the final season trailer has added fuel to the fire.
