Jevon Holland Expected to Play Despite Hand Injury

Miami Dolphins safety Jevón Holland’s hand injury may not be as serious as previously thought.

While Holland and his Dolphins teammates were allegedly discussing the prospect of surgery quickly after sustaining the injury in a Week 5 victory, Miami head coach Mike McDaniel did not rule out the safety playing in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Miami Dolphins and their supporters will be relieved to learn that Jevon Holland may not miss any time due to a hand injury. The top safety had first expressed anxiety about his availability, but new reports indicate that the injury may not sideline him.

When asked about his plans to safeguard his hand and the probable hardship of playing his position with a cast, Holland replied, “Yeah, I’ve never really done it before, so it’s my first time.” But, certainly, I’m going to expect it will be a bit challenging.”

This revelation is especially relevant because Holland is an important part of the Dolphins’ defense, and his presence on the field will be critical as the season unfolds.

Fortunately, this is fresh ground for Holland, who told reporters: “Honestly, this is my first broken bone for real, so it almost feels like a horrible jam. That’s the best I can describe it.”

“He’s gonna be smart with the team and not be irresponsible with forcing a round peg into a square hole,” says McDaniel. “But he also understands that he is a very excellent player and that we benefit from having him on the team.

The Dolphins were without safety Jordan Poyer in their last game against the New England Patriots, so Marcus Maye will start beside Holland. The team also features special teams ace Elijah Campbell on the depth chart, while Nik Needham was promoted from the practice squad in Week 5.

Although the NFL trade deadline is still three weeks away, the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets have already decided to make changes. On Tuesday, the two AFC East teams signed two receivers with 11 combined Pro Bowl selections.

First, the Jets secured an agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire six-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams, reuniting him with Aaron Rodgers, his former Green Bay Packers teammate.

Not long after, the Bills acquired five-time Pro Bowler Amari Cooper in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.

First, the Jets secured an agreement with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire six-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams, reuniting him with Aaron Rodgers, his former Green Bay Packers teammate.

Dolphins a one percent probability of winning the division and a nine percent chance of making the playoffs. A little more firepower for the two teams who stand in Miami’s way of making the playoffs is not the best news for the team.

Miami, already facing an uphill battle in the AFC East, will now play the Bills offense in Week 9 with Cooper added to the mix, and the Dolphins still have two games against the Jets in weeks 14 and 18.
