Gruden was hired by Barstool Sports on Thursday, three years after resigning from the Raiders after emails emerged which saw him using racist and homophobic language.Barstool president Dave Portnoy confirmed the news – first reported by ESPN insider Adam Schefter – by posting a video of Gruden explaining his ‘Spider Y 2 Banana’ play to Barstool staff. According to the source, it is a multiple year deal.
“Let’s go,” Portnoy wrote above the video. Between training occupations, Gruden worked on television for ESPN as an analyst/colour commentator for “Monday Night Football” from 2009 to 2017. , the precise nature of the cooperation between the 61-year-old Gruden and the sports and entertainment blogging website remain unclear.
In the video Gruden asks the Barstool employees: Do you boys here want to take a lesson in football”? Seriously, do you? Okay, time to move Warren Sapp’s favorite saying to exhausting the defensive line to a fine art; “Let’s hit the old paving slab, son!” The coach and winning Super Bowl has recently upped his presence on the app, posting a series of aggressive TikToks on his personal account Gruden Loves Football where he dissects the league.
Gruden is in the process of suing the NFL and commissioner for Roger Goodell for “selectively leaking” emails in an attempt to oust him as the Raiders’ coach. They were sent to former commanders and former team president Bruce Allen, and they were part of an investigation into Washington’s workplace culture under then-owner Daniel Snyder.
Boomer Esiason, a former quarterback with the New York Jets said on the radio show he hosts at WFAN on Wednesday morning that he believed Gruden would soon be back on the sidelines of an NFL game. “I can tell you he will be 100 percent to get back in the field, absolutely,” said Esiason.
Myself, I can also attest – this is my opinion; and I have probably talked to at least two people in coaching searches and things of that nature – there are teams that are interested in him. And if it’s not year, it’s Next year. It’s much simpler: But he’s coming back; he’s definitely coming back.”
