Because of her work in Hacks, Selena Gomez did not receive the Emmy Award for leading actress in a comedy series. This did not happen because of her performance. A few days before the ceremony was set to take place, she took the time to practise her answer to the possibility of losing face.

The Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony was attended by Selena Gomez, who arrived at the event with all of her preparations in place. It was observed that the actor, who had been nominated for the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category but ultimately lost to Jean Smart for Hacks, was seen cheering her at the brief minute when the camera was positioned in such a way that it was facing her. When she practiced her response for her appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, she did the exact same thing here. It was almost exactly the same as what she said then.

X was the platform on which a supporter uploaded a video that featured two clips of Selena side by side. The first film was from the Emmy Awards, and the second clip was from The Tonight Show. The objective of the film was to illustrate that the two responses were not dissimilar to one another in any way.
